The Marchioness sets out the case to the nurse, a new one who has never dealt with cyclones. The sister is not at all keen on nursing an old country woman in critical condition. She also must be shocked, the poor thing, by the sight of the "moghaznis" wearing weapons and transporting the stretcher, and the sub-lieutenant, sub-machine gun hanging from the shoulder, with the barrel turned down.
The Marchioness insists heavily as she may :
- This sick person absolutely needs to be hospitalized, sister, and anyway we have not made the trip up there for nothing.
The sister, scowling, and more and more exasperated :
- There is no bed for her.
Then the Marchioness, with a stentorian voice :
- Sister, it is not possible, you touch yourself at night !
The sister says oh! and then ah! and hastily disapears in the next room. A few minutes later she reappears and, without a word, she signals the "moghaznis" to follow her. In a corner, there is an extra empty bed ready to welcome the sick person. The Marchioness continues with her circus, thanking her, the other patients opening their eyes as round as carriage entrances.
